Florida State took a while to get going, but a big eighth inning pushed the Seminoles past Bowling Green State for a 6-1 victory. Reliever Ed Voyles picked up his first win of the season.
Neither team was able to get much done for the first four innings, but Bowling Green State took a 1-0 lead in the fifth. An infield single plated the run, and ended starter Mike Compton's day at just 4.2 innings. Compton gave up 1 run, 0 earned, with 5 hits and 1 walk with 2 strikeouts. Ed Voyles replaced him to end the inning with runners on the corners.
Things looked bleak for the Seminoles until the eighth inning. Florida State scored six runs thanks to an RBI double by Quincy Neiporte, a 2-RBI triple by Ben DeLuzio, a passed ball that scored DeLuzio, and a 2-RBI double by John Sansone.
Tyler Warmoth came in and closed the game out in the ninth.
Florida State improves to 30-13 on the season, and remains 14-6 in the ACC. They will look to take the series against Bowling Green State Saturday at 1 PM.
