Six Florida State errors cost the Seminoles an opening win in the Women's College World Series against Georgia. The Seminoles fell 5-4 to the Bulldogs in the opening game of the tournament.
Florida State got on the board first with a 2-run home run by Jessica Warren in the bottom of the first inning. Warren took the first pitch she saw, and drove it over the center field wall to give the Seminoles a 2-0 lead.
Georgia came right back in the top of the second inning. Two Florida State errors put runners on base for the Bulldogs, and they took advantage with back to back sacrifice flies by Maeve McGuire and Katie Browne to tie the game at 2.
Georgia took a 4-2 lead in the top of the third after an RBI single by Alyssa DiCarlo, another Florida State error, and then an RBI single by Tina Losefa. Florida State tied the game at 4 on an Alex Powers 2-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning.
The tie didn't last very long as the Seminoles sixth error of the game allowed the go ahead run on base. An RBI groundout by DiCarlo made it 5-4 Bulldogs in the top of the seventh.
The Seminoles fall into the loser's bracket with the loss and will play the loser of UCLA and Auburn in an elimination game at Noon on June 4th.
