FSU Falls To Auburn In Extra Innings In WCWS Semifinal

FSU falls one game short of going to the National Championship with an extra innings loss to Auburn.

Florida State falls to Auburn in extra innings, and has been eliminated in the Women's College World Series.

Alex Powers started the scoring off with an RBI double to give the Seminoles a 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Unfortunately that lead was short lived, as Auburn got that run back and then some on one swing of bat by Carlee Wallace. The Tigers took a 3-1 lead heading to the second.

The Seminoles would fight back in the second inning with an RBI triple by Morgan Klaevemann, and then an RBI single by Jessica Warren. Florida State would take a 4-3 lead in the top of the third inning Carsyn Gordon RBI single.

Once again that Florida State lead would be short lived. Auburn's Jade Rhodes crushed a 3-run home run to give the Tigers a 6-4 lead. The would add a run to that lead in the fourth inning on a Kaylee Cooper solo home run.

Florida State once again battled back and with just three outs left, Cali Herrod came through. Herrod crushed a 3-run home run to tie the game at 7. The Seminoles weren't able to add any more, and Auburn couldn't get anything going in the bottom half of the inning.

A Florida State error allowed Madi Gibson to make it all the way to third base with no outs in the bottom of the eighth inning. Whitney Jordan grounded to third, but the throw was high and Gibson was able to sneak her hand in for the walk-off victory.

Florida State falls to 55-10 on the season.
