With the second pick of the eight round, the Cincinnati Reds selected Florida State third baseman John Sansone. Sansone was a four year starter for the Seminoles, and has been a leader for the 2016 team that will face Florida in the super regionals this weekend for a trip to Omaha.
Sansone had hit between .220 and .245 for the first three years of his career, but made an incredible improvement his senior year. He has hit .374 this season with 9 home runs and 25 doubles. He has been hit 14 times this season, giving him 65 over his career. He passed Karl Jernigan's 61 for the most in Florida State history. He has an on-base percentage of .459 this season.
Sansone is currently 18th on Florida State games played list with 248 during his Seminole career. He will finish with at least at tie for 17th at 250. He is the only senior position player, and the captain of the 2016 team.
