Florida State quarterback Malik Henry has been suspended from the football team for a "violation of team rules." Head coach Jimbo Fisher declined to speak more on the subject, and would not comment on whether Henry would be available for the opening game against Ole Miss.
Henry was the No. 8 quarterback in the 2016 Scout rankings and the No. 155 prospect overall in the Scout 300. He early enrolled during the spring, and had an exceptional spring game going 15 of 22 for 205 yards and two touchdowns.
With the suspension Florida State has two scholarship quarterbacks available. Redshirt freshman Deondre Francois, who is expected to start, and redshirt sophomore JJ Cosentino. Florida State also has walk-on Jake Rizzo, who was a former quarterback for St. Thomas Aquinas. Cosentino was with the second team while Rizzo was with the third team during Saturday's practice.
Redshirt senior Sean Maguire will miss at least the first game of the season after breaking a bone in his right foot.
