"I'm feeling better. I woke up very sore, but that's typical of a Sunday, especially after a battle like we had Saturday. The soreness goes away a little bit every day, especially with the medication they give us, so I'm confident I will be fine on Saturday.''
YOU CALLED A TIMEOUT RIGHT BEFORE THROWING TD TO P.K. SAM....HURTING OR NEED TO CATCH AIR?
"I was definitely just blowed and out of air. Yeah, my neck was hurting a little bit, but I was coherent, my head wasn't ringing at all. But we were fighting out there, and not getting a lot of breaks because we were going no-huddle. So I thought, hey, we got a couple timeouts, let myself and our linemen catch our breath, regather our thoughts, so we can make sure the next play was executed to best of our ability.''
WHAT HAPPENED ON TD PASS TO P.K.?
"P.K. did a great job, just dropping behind the corner. When I couldn't see P.K. in my vision, I knew he had to behind him and I just lofted it over the defensive back. It definitely wasn't a planned play. It happened all on instinct. That was on P.K. on that play. "I threw it to spot, where I thought he would be. I saw his hands reach out and grab it. Just a great play by P.K. We never executed that play that way before.''
WHAT'S IMPORTANT THIS WEEK?
"We had a couple plays in practice last week that we had to repeat over and over. We got a little sloppy at times and it showed in the game. Execution is really our focus this week. Making sure we have great practices every day, to give us good opportunity on Saturday to be successful."
WHAT DID WINNING LIKE THAT DO FOR TEAM?
"I know it brought us together immensely. Just seeing after we scored that last touchdown and after the game. I've had times in the past where offensive guys have come up to me after a bad play or even after a good play and tapped me on the head and encouraged me. But I don't think I've ever had a time where every single defensive player came over and encouraged our offensive players as well as myself.
"After that interception it was, 'Hey Chris we're behind you everything is going to be OK.' And of course after that last touchdown, just elation and proud of our offense for coming through. I just felt so together with everyone. It just felt like a family out there. We were so happy out there, it felt like we had just beaten Miami or Florida with the intensity and jubiliation after the game was really impressive. We were thankful for the defense and defense was thankful for offense for coming through, so it was total team effort.'' As you guys can see, we're just so much more together than in the past."
DO YOU THINK ABOUT HOW QUARTERBACKS ARE JUDGED BY WHETHER THEY CAN BRING TEAM BACK?
"Definitely with the outcome. After the game I thought about the N.C. State game where we had that 18 play drive and came up short. I thought about other games against Miami and Maryland. But during the game, I was just thinking about this drive, moving the chains, getting into the end zone and not stopping until we cross that goal line. Before I knew it we were in the end zone and we're up by a point."
WHAT WAS DIFFERENCE IN SECOND HALF, FOURTH QUARTER? "I think the first thing was the play-calling by Coach Jeff Bowden and Coach Dickey. They opened it up a little more. Of course, no huddle allows me to get into a rythm, get into a groove and get that tempo going. Being in the shotgun and relying on instincts and quick reads. It was a combination of both those things. Once our offense gets flowing, we can make things happen. It's pretty tough to stop us once we get into a rythm. Unfortunately it took us a little bit longer on Saturday."
DOES IT HELP HAVING DICKEY ON SIDELINE?
"It does. Just having that face to face feedback with him and have him telling me what I can be doing better, what I can look for. It's just different seeing it in person than over a headset. And us connecting eye to eye and gives me a lot more realistic feedback and improve on the spot, rather than we'll look at it halftime."
YOU CONNECTED WITH SIX DIFFERENT RECEIVERS DURING THOSE TWO DRIVES
"I really wasn't trying to focus or lock in on any one. I honestly have the same amount confidence in all my receivers. I was really focussing on my progression and who that play was designed to go to."
DIFFERENT IN RUNNING GAME WITHOUT LORENZO, LEON?
"I think we've designed our running plays to be a little more up the middle and power with Greg rather than getting it to the outside. where those guys are little more shifter, little more speed to get to outside. Running up the middle, runing outside. Obviously with Greg you're going to want to pound it up the middle."
IS IT DIFFERENT PLAYING TEAM FROM THE WEST LIKE COLORADO?
"Definitely. I think you probably compare it to USC playing Auburn. You're not very familiar with the team. We'll look at the film this week, see what kind of challenges they present and form gameplans from there. But really we don't know what to expect. We know it's Big 12, a big running conference, so hopefully that will give us the opportunity to throw the ball."
WHY DID TEC SHUT YOU GUYS DOWN SO WELL?
"First off, their defensive coordinator did a great job of having them in great position to shut down the run, bracketing our receivers and it was just tough to find those alleys. The second thing is was I think it was tough getting into that rhythim cause we weren't able to get in the field. It was a challenge when we were on sidelines for 15-20 minutes trying to stay warm and get out there. It was just very tough to get in that rythm."
