Tuesday Practice Update

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The No. 5 Florida State Seminoles (5-0, 4-0 ACC) practiced for just over an hour in shorts Tuesday afternoon after taking Monday off. FSU has a bye this week and will practice again on Wednesday and Thursday. The Seminoles host No. 2 Miami (4-0, 1-0 BIG EAST) next Saturday at 12:00 noon on ABC.

"Today was like a Monday practice," said head coach Bobby Bowden. "We corrected the mistakes we made last week and gradually we'll add stuff for Miami. We need a good week of practice. This week is important to grasp what they're doing."

The Seminoles held out several starters and key reserves in Saturday's win at Duke. Defensive end Eric Moore, offensive guard Bobby Meeks and linebacker Kendyll Pope were among the starters who did not see any action. In addition, tailbacks Leon Washington and Lorenzo Booker and back-up tight end Matt Henshaw did not play.

"We've still got some boys that won't be able to practice this week," said Bowden. "We should get them back next week. This open week comes at a pretty good time. I hope Washington and Booker can work all this week. That would be a good start heading into next week. It's not likely they'll get much contact. I would like them to get bumped around a little bit though."

If the Seminoles and Hurricanes hold their positions in the polls, it will mark the first time since 1993 that both teams entered the game with top five national rankings. No. 1 FSU won that game 28-10 over No. 3 UM in Doak Campbell Stadium.
