Thursday Practice Report

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The No. 5 Florida State Seminoles (5-0, 4-0 ACC) practiced for 21 periods in shells (shorts & shoulder pads) Thursday afternoon as they concluded their off week preparations for Miami. FSU has a bye this week and will return to the practice fields on Monday afternoon. The Seminoles host No. 2 Miami (4-0, 1-0 BIG EAST) next Saturday at 12:00 noon on ABC.

"We've had three good days of preparation out here," said head coach Bobby Bowden. "We'll let the get off and get refreshed. Then they'll come back in on Sunday night before we'll practice Monday. We'll probably go into Monday in pretty good shape (injury wise)."

The Seminoles continued to hold out several starters and key reserves. Offensive guard Bobby Meeks and linebacker Kendyll Pope were among the starters who did not see any action. In addition, tailbacks Leon Washington and Lorenzo Booker practiced today in all drills.

Practice was mainly focused on working against Miami scout teams following conditioning and fundamental drills. During 11-on-11 drills, freshman defensive tackle Clifton Dickson recorded a sack and Kamerion Wimbley had a tackle for loss. Rufus Brown added a pass break up for the secondary.

If the Seminoles and Hurricanes hold their positions in the polls, it will mark the first time since 1993 that both teams entered the game with top five national rankings. No. 1 FSU won that game 28-10 over No. 3 UM in Doak Campbell Stadium.

Next weekend's game with Miami will be carried live nationally on ABC and is scheduled for a 12:00 noon kickoff.
