SC LB Has Three Schools In Mind

Early in the recruiting process, Florence (SC) Wilson linebacker Lawrence Timmons didn't have the Seminoles on his radar screen. However, with a recent offer the Noles have sprinted to the top of his list. The 4th best prospect in the Palmetto State has three teams in mind.

"My top three schools are Florida, Florida, State and Tennessee," Timmons, who has recorded over 100 tackles in his senior, said. "Florida State is my favorite now. I feel like I can fit in down there."

Timmons, who has been on record saying that he wouldn't mind leaving the state of South Carolina to play his college ball, has official visit dates set up for Maryland (12/5), Florida State (1/9), Florida (1/16) and Tennessee (1/23).

This past spring, the 6-foot-1 and 220 pound Timmons had an impressive showing at the Miami Nike camp. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.56 seconds and he had a vertical jump 30.4 inches. He also benched-pressed 225 pounds 21 times.

Timmons projects at outside linebacker in college but because of his freakish athletic- ability, he might possibly end up as a strong-safety.

As a junior, he showed off some of his athletic- ability by catching 42 passes for 690 yards and 14 touchdowns. On defense, he recorded 95 tackles and four forced fumbles.

The coaches from his three favorites that are recruiting him are Strong (Florida), Steele (Florida State) and Brooks (Tennessee).

Timmons is on track to qualify academically with a 3.2 grade point average and a 780 on the SAT test.

"I would like to either major in Business or Criminal Justice," he said.
