Noles Visit South Georgia Standout

Back in October linebacker/tight end prospect Octavious Balkcom gave a verbal commitment to Auburn. A little over month later, the 6-foot-2 and 230 pound Blackly (GA) Early County standout has changed his mind. He has now opened up his recruitment again.

"I have opened up my recruitment, "Balkcom, who had over 20 tackles in a playoff win last week, said. "I will visit Tennessee on (1/17) and Florida State on (1/24)."

Auburn will also get an official visit from him on (1/9).

Last night two coaches from Florida State dropped by Balkcom's home for a visit.

Coach Allen and Haggins came by today," he said. "It went real well. We sat down and had a real nice conversation. They're close to offering me."

The three schools that have offered him a scholarship are Auburn, South Carolina and Tennessee.

Balkcom has attended several games this season including, Auburn/Georgia, Auburn/Alabama, Florida State/Georgia Tech and Florida State/Miami.

The Early County athlete is on track to qualify academically.

What will it take for him to pick a school?

"I'm looking for a nice environment," he said.
