Mandarin DB Attended Fla/FSU Game

Tony Carter, who is one of top recruits from the state of Florida, was one of many prospects who attended the Florida/Florida State game over the weekend in Gainesville. The Territory caught up with the Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin standout to discuss his visit over the weekend and to find out what's up next for him.

"I had a fun," carter said. "I took a tour of the campus and I got to talk with a lot of the recruits at the game."

Did the game have a positive effect for the Gators?

"The atmosphere was great," he said. "Chris Leak is the best freshman college quarterback that I have ever seen. I'm thinking of taking an official visit there. The coaches from Florida haven't been recruiting that hard. I haven't heard from them on the phone in awhile."

Carter has made some changes in terms of who he will visit now.

"I was going to visit Nebraska and North Carolina," Carter, who intercepted four, passes in his senior season, said. "Nebraska just fired their head coach and North Carolina just fired three of their assistants so I going to cancel those visits. I have already canceled the Oregon trip."

Carter will soon set up a visit to Florida and Florida State. He already has a visit set up for USC this weekend and Tennessee on (1/16).

Some of the recruits that Carter spoke with at the game where Xavier Lee, Xavier Cater, Kyle Jackson, Mike McIntosh, Aaron Jones, Jr., Kenny Ingram and Drew Weatherford.

"I saw Drew up in the stands after the game," he said. "He was happy Florida State won and he told me that we got to get a good class together for Florida State. I really like him. He's down to earth."

Carter, who claims to be open, is rumored to be a lean towards the Noles. What does he like about Florida State?

"I feel real comfortable around the coaches and players there," he said. "When I'm Tallahassee, I hang out with Leon Washington. My father's best friend is his uncle."

Carter has been selected to play in the Army All-American game on January 3rd.
