Title Game Approaches

Jonathan Warren is counting down the hours until Friday afternoon. That's when Warren and the Madison Cowboys tangle with Hollywood Chaminade in the Class 2A state championship game at Florida Field. Warren and the Cowboys continued their preparation Wednesday afternoon. One sideline visitor included Florida State assistant coach Jody Allen.

Warren, a highly-rated safety known for his aggressiveness and tackling skills, continues to rank Florida State and Florida as his co-leaders.

However, other notables such as Iowa State, East Carolina and Clemson are also high on Warren's list.

In fact, an Iowa State coach spent nearly four hours at Madison County High School earlier this week visiting with Warren and coaches.

"It's still FSU-Florida -- it's still 50-50," Warren said before heading out to practice. "But Iowa State and (others) are on my mind, too."

Warren, however, admits he grew up a fan of the Seminoles.

"I love FSU. I grew up... FSU was my team," Warren said and smiled. "I would just love to put on those colors."

Warren's official stops will start with East Carolina Jan. 9, Florida Jan. 16, Iowa State Jan. 23 and FSU Jan. 30.

More importantly, however, Warren, who has not qualified academically, will take another crack at the ACT test this Saturday.
