Miami DB Has Top Three

Last summer at the Miami Hurricane team camp, cornerback Trevor Ford shut down some of the top wide receiver prospects, including De La Salle's Cameron Colvin. In his senior season, the Miami (Fla.) Northwestern's standout continued his success by recording 56 tackles, 11 pass breakups and five interceptions. What's the latest on his recruitment?

"I just returned from a visit to Kansas State and it went well," Ford said. "My top three schools are Miami, Florida State and Kansas State with no leaders. I'll visit Florida State (1/9), Miami (1/16) and most likely Georgia (1/23). I was supposed to visit Ohio State but they haven't been showing that much interest because of Ted Ginn."

Speaking of interest, Florida State and Miami are showing the most. He's also getting recruiting pitches from former Northwestern teammates Tavarous Bain (Miami) and Clifton Dickson (Florida State).

"They both want me to come," he said. "However, they are leaving the decision up to me."

Ford, who will be in California for the Florida/Cali All-Star game when the Noles/Canes battle in the Orange Bowl, will watch both teams closely.

"I will be watching the game as a spectator," he said. ""I'm looking to see where I have a chance to compete."

Ford is on track to qualify academically with a 2.4 grade point average and a 940 on the SAT.

Some of the teams to extend offers to Ford are Florida State, Miami, Florida, Oklahoma, Georgia, Kansas State and Virginia Tech.
