Noles Land a Big-Time WR

Recently, Florida State offered Oakland (CA) Skyline wide receiver Kenny O'Neal a scholarship. As of early last week, The No 8 player at his position in the country wasn't sure if he would make his scheduled trip to Tallahassee. However, with a good in-home visit with offensive coordinator Jeff Bowden, he moved up his visit for this weekend.

O'Neal, who grew up in Georgia, had the Dawgs as his favorite until a few days ago. Going into Tallahassee, the Noles and Dawgs were dead even. Was this trip enough to put the Noles on top?

"I committed to Florida State" O'Neal told TheTerritory Sunday afternoon.

"My trip was everything and so much more. I think we're going to have one of the top five recruiting classes. Cro (Thorpe) my host was cool, as so was Drew (Weatherford), Tony Carter and Lamar Lewis. It wasn't hard to turn down Georgia because Florida State was my favorite team growing up."

The Noles are getting a very productive player with speed.

As a sophomore, he won the Georgia State 5A champ in the 100 meters by running a blazing 10.4 seconds.

As a senior, he caught 35 passes for 850 yards with 24 touchdowns. He also returned three kickoffs for scores.

O'Neal is on track to qualify academically with a 2.5 grade point average and a score of 940 on the SAT Test.

O'Neal will not take anymore visits and he's solid with the Noles.

"Florida State is the place for me and my parents are fine with it as long as I get a good education," he said.
