"I committed to Florida State," the four-star prospect said. "It seems like al the players from South Carolina that have played there have done well and have gone off to the NFL. Coach Steele is a nice guy and a very good coach. He coaching in the NFL was also a factor."

This past spring, the 6-foot-1 and 220 pound Timmons had an impressive showing at the Miami Nike camp. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.56 seconds and he had a vertical jump 30.4 inches. He also benched-pressed 225 pounds 21 times.

As a junior, he showed off some of his athletic-ability by catching 42 passes for 690 yards and 14 touchdowns. On defense, he recorded 95 tackles and four forced fumbles. He is versatile enough to play all three linebacker positions.

Timmons should have no problems academically qualifying with a 3.2 grade point average and an 18 on the ACT Test.
