Tonight on Countdown to Signing Day, Tony Carter of Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin committed to his childhood dream team in the Florida State Seminoles. The 5-foot-10 and 163 pound defensive back is considered one of the top cover-corners in the Southeast. His signature helps secure a top five finish in The Insiders.com recruiting rankings. Q: Why did you decide to attend Florida State?
A: Basically, I felt more comfortable at Florida State and I got along with the coaches and players over there. I was born in Tallahassee.

Q: How long did you live in Tallahassee?
A: Only for a year but I visit my family there every summer. My brother is in high school in Tallahassee.

Q: Was your father being a basketball player in the 80's for Florida State a factor?
A: My dad's sister went to school there and my father went there. My mother went to school at FAMU.

Q: What are your goals now that have signed?
A: My ultimate goal is to play in the NFL. However, I want to develop as a person and get a degree.

Q: When are you headed over to Tallahassee?
A: I'm heading over for the first summer school session.

Q: What do you think of your new position coach in Mickey Andrews?
A: He's a real cool guy and he's very down to earth. However, he's told me that it's not going to be a walk in the park and I like that.

Q: Some have questions about your size. Have you gotten bigger and stronger?
A: "I'm 5-foot-10 and 167 pounds now. Since summer I have grown two inches and gained 20 pounds of muscle. I've increased my bench press from 200 to 250.

Q: What's the fastest you have ran the 40-yard dash?
A: At the Gainesville Nike camp I ran a 4.37 and won the camp MVP.

Q: What are your thoughts on the recruiting process?
A: It's fun but frustrating at times. I've learned a lot from going through it.

Q: What do you think of this recruiting class that Florida State has signed?
A: I think this class has what it takes to win a National Championship.

Q: Did you bond with any recruits during the recruiting process?
A: Yes I did. I bonded with Xavier Lee, Lamar Lewis, Aaron Jones and Drew Weatherford.

Q: How close are you to qualifying academically?
A: I need a B in my physics class and I then should be good to go.
