Florida top defensive tackle names leaders….

With over 90 tackles, 26 tackles for loss, 15 quarterback sacks and 5 fumble recoveries, it's easy to see why Jeffrey Owens from Plantation High School is considered one of the top defensive tackles in Florida.

The 6-foot-3, 280 pound Owens runs the 40 yard dash in less than 4.9 seconds, bench presses over 400 pounds and squats 555 pounds. Those are some impressive numbers no matter what position Owens played.

So who leads for the impressive defensive tackle?

"I grew up a fan of Miami and FSU, both teams are equal at this time and I will visit both later on this year," Owens said.

He also mentioned to the Insiders that Walt Harris from Pittsburgh. With a few of his former teammates at Pittsburgh, Owens mentioned to us that they are also a big time player for his services.

One goal that Owens stressed most is helping lead his Plantation football team to the State Championship. "Winning a State Championship is the goal of our football team this year. We have come close the past few years but it's time for us to step up and get over the hurdle and end up in Gainesville."

As far as individual goals are concerned, Owens said, "I want to get over 20 sacks this year and lead the team in tackles."

Camps: Miami, Pittsburgh, Ohio State, possibly FSU and the Down and Dirty Camp.
