Defensive Back not committed to anyone yet….

Earlier this week there was a report that one of the top players in South Florida had committed to the USC Trojans. When the Insiders sat down with Dorian Monroe today, he had no idea that he was committed to USC.

"I don't know where the rumor started that I was committed to USC but they are not true."

"Right now they are not even one of my top schools, I like NC State, Pittsburgh, Miami, USF, Tennessee and FSU."

Does Dorian Monroe have a favorite team among those growing up?

"Yeah I liked FSU the most, right now if I had to choose though it would be a tough choice between them and Miami."

One of the main reasons he likes UM so much is Munroe is a close friend with Sean Taylor and Bobby Washington.

What's most impressive about the 6-foot-1, 185 pound defensive back was that he was voted to first team All-Dade County as a junior. He also was 3rd team All-State in Florida this past season. Even with those accolades, Monroe was happy most with the fact that he led Dade County in one category that matter most.

"I led the county in interceptions this past year. Now I want to lead the state in that same category this year." He also had 10 touchdowns in 2003 on offense as well.

One of the most important things for Monroe this year is to help his team make the playoffs.

"Making the playoffs would be huge, we need to make that next step this year to earn some respect in South Florida," he said.

So, what is the one strength that stands out most to Monroe?

"I think about myself as a student of the game, I can't watch enough film to see what other teams will try and do to our defense."

If there is one area he would like to improve Monroe felt it would be, speed

"If I can improve that part of my game than I would be a more complete player."

Camp: Was invited to UM, will go up to FSU with his defensive backs coach and USF.
