South Florida DB looking for recognition

This past year, one of the top rated defensive backs in the country was Killian High School star JR Bryant. Killian has another defensive back that could end up even better than the former Cougar star. That would be Demetrius Morley. He is a 6-foot-1, 180-pound free safety that is ready to make the move up the recruiting charts.

Demetrius Morley recently ran a sub 4.4 40 yard dash time for his coaches at Killian. With the upcoming Nike Camp at UM he intends on running the same time for the coaches there as well. He recorded the fastest time on the Cougar football team and also registered over 50 tackles this past season as well as 9 interceptions. The school record is 20 interceptions and Morley wants to beat that this fall.

He may not be well known to the recruiting gurus but Morley has received letters from FSU, Miami, Florida, NC State, LSU and Tennessee. NC State has already given him a written offer.

So who was his favorite among those schools growing up?

"FSU, they were my team growing up and they are one of my leaders at this time," he said.

He also is a good friend with former Cougar teammate JR Bryant. "Yeah JR and me are tight, him going to FSU though won't have much of an impact on my decision."

If there is one player that Morley feels his game most resembles, it is Charles Woodson.

"I like the way Woodson plays. He is very aggressive and that is the way I play the game of football."

We asked what part of his game is a strength and where he needs to improve and here is what Morley had to say.

"I feel my decision making and anticipation of where the ball is going is the strong part of my game. If I can improve my backpedal then I will be more of a complete player."

The Insiders also got the chance to sit down and talk with Munroe head coach Billy Rolle. "Morley has the chance to be the best safety I have coached. He has all the physical skills now; he just has to put it all together and become the best safety in the state of Florida."
