"Coming into the game we new it would be a fight, two good teams matched up against each other. They did a real good job in the closing minutes of the game getting what they wanted. we knew it was going to be an emotional night, the two wins here with Wake and North Carolina really prepared us. This team has really grown and matured. We came here prepared for Duke but fell short."
FSU guard Tim Pickett
"it seemed we weren't getting as many calls as them, but we can'tcomplain we gotta keep playing hard. There were like two possessions where they flopped and acted like they took a charge, and we come down and they (refs) don't see nothing, but we gotta just keep fighting. We couldn't really recover from that We gotta keep our composure and take care of the ball and just execute But it was the little mistakes that catch up with us at the end, and that was one of them" - On redick's missed free throw at the end.
"we felt like we played good defense, no one in particular shot the ball real well, it was like a tug-of-war, till the miscues at the end. I wanted this to be a game like that, the crowd in it. Its our last go around and it was an emotional night, I didn't want it to go out like this, we just came up short. I want to thank the fans for staying with us all year through our ups and downs. But our season is not over. We got another game and the acc tournament, and then you never know. They got away with a lot of pushing like on my arm when I was shooting. Couple times I shot air balls, they hit my arm, but I give them all the credit they played good defense and won the game."
Duke coach K
"Wow that was a great game. We feel really fortunate to win, a game played by two winning teams. Defense and energy, big time college basketball game Their crowd was great, it was a big time game. I'm proud of our guys, we beat a hell of a team tonight. There is nothing easy in this conference"
FSU coach Leonard Hamilton
"we gave tremendous effort. We just came a little short on the free throw end. We have one more game, and if there is such thing as our backs against the wall then I guess this is it. I am sure we will come back and be ready to play against Georgia Tech."
