Linebacker ready for break out season….

When it comes to linebackers this year South Florida has some pretty good ones. One that is quickly moving to the top of the list is Gerald Williams of Boyd Anderson High School in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. He is a 6-foot-5, 225 pound tackling machine.

Gerald Williams recorded over 130 tackles last year along with 3 sacks, 4 interceptions and 1 touchdown on the defensive side of the football. Not only does he have the size, Williams has the speed as well. He runs the 40-yard dash in under 4.6 seconds. What's most impressive about Williams is he is being recruited as a strong safety, linebacker and defensive end from college recruiters.

We asked Williams to name some of the schools he liked most, "Miami, FSU, Florida, Ohio State and LSU are the ones that stand out right now, Miami was my favorite team growing up but I am open at this time." Right he has some offers but the only one he knows about is Boston College, "Yeah BC is the only one my coach will tell me about, he feels that if I knew of all the other offers I may not work as hard. He is trying to keep me working hard and I am glad he is doing that."

What is the strength of Williams's game, "I am good at stopping the run, I like when teams try and run at me, I will do my best to shut them down," he said. Williams mentioned to us that his coverage skills are the main thing he would like to work on.

One other thing he mentioned to us is wants to have a great season so he can get invited out to play in the California/Florida game.
