Postseason Dates

As expected, the NCAA Tournament passed on the Florida State Seminoles Sunday evening. Still, the Seminoles will return to the postseason for the first time in six years, visiting Wichita State (21-10) in NIT play on Wednesday. FSU's women's team, meanwhile, learned late Sunday night it will be on the road as well in the WNIT against South Alabama on Wednesday. This is the Seminoles' third postseason appearance in four years.

The Florida State Seminoles had wished for the best -- a chance to play in the NCAA Tournament.

However, that dream did not transpire on Sunday, when the selection committee bypassed the Seminoles (18-13) after FSU dropped its last five games.

Still, the Seminoles will have the opportunity to make plenty of postseason noise in the NIT against Wichita State of the Missouri Valley Conference. The schools have never met.

If FSU wins its opener on the road Wednesday, the Seminoles will face either Georgia or Iowa State in the second round at a site to be determined.

FSU's women's team, meanwhile, also received a second chance, when it was selected for the WNIT. The Seminoles will travel to South Alabama on Wednesday.

The winner of that game will play Friday against either Richmond or South Florida.

Tallahassee, of course, will play host to the first two rounds of the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Tournament.

No. 1 overall seed Tennessee will play no. 16 Colgate on Saturday, while No. 8 George Washington faces No. 9 DePaul in the other first-round matchup.
