Monday Football Practice Report

Today the Seminole football team returned to practice from Saturday's scrimmage and they finished up early. Chris Milton of The Territory.org was on hand to give us all his practice observations, including a stellar performance by the offense in goal line drills.

Both quarterbacks (Rix and Sexton) completed over 50% of their passes.

The offense scored four out of eight times on goal line drill which angered defensive coordinator Mickey Andrews. For the third time this spring, the defense had to stay after practice and run.

Running Back Lorenzo Booker and fullback B. J. Dean were the two backs that scored in goal line drills and the two other scores came from passes from Chris Rix and Wyatt Sexton to tight end Paul Irons.

Defensively, Safety Pat Watkins and cornerback Leroy Smith each returned an interception for a touchdown. Both interceptions came from walk on quarterbacks.

Linebacker Sam McGrew and cornerback Bryant McFadden had fumble recoveries in 11-on-11drills. Defensive tackle Clifton Dickson and Alex Boston each had a tackle for a loss.

Sitting out practice today with minor injuries were Roger Williams, Decody Fagg, Buster Davis and B.J. Ward. Lorne Sam and Gerard Ross were suited up today with pads.

According to defensive coordinator Mickey Andrews, A.J. Nicholson has been heads and shoulders above the rest of the defense this spring. Sophomore defensive tackle Clifton Dickson has also turned a few heads.

The Noles return to the practice field tomorrow afternoon and they will have a half scrimmage.
