Noles Lead for LB/DE

LB Jon Demps (6-4, 223, 4.65) of Pensacola B.T. Washington (FL) is the younger brother of LSU LB Willie Demps. The Tigers are Jon's only scholarship offer (offered as a soph) so far and they are also his parent's top pick. "I like them a lot because of my brother," said Demps.

"It also helps that they won the national championship. I know a couple of guys that they are recruiting too and I think it's a good family atmosphere there. My brother told me to keep my options open and to take all my visits. He said not to do anything stupid on my visits.
He also said that it gets hot in recruiting after a while and that if I get tired to tell people to stop calling."

Jon already visited Baton Rouge for the Tigers JR Day and plans to attend their camp this summer. He'll also be at the Nike camp at LSU on May 2.

Despite having family connections to the Tigers, Jon says his top choice is Florida St. The 'Noles have a slight lead over Miami, LSU, Virginia Tech and Florida, but says that his top three have a big lead.

"I've always followed Florida St and Miami. I love the defense at Florida St and how it's real solid every year. And I love the hype at Miami. You can't help but love them.

"I just like Florida and all the schools here. LSU is only about three hours away, so I consider that a local school too. I don't care if I'm close, but I'll probably stay in the area."

Jon had a great JR season and finished with 145 tackles, seven sacks, two fumbles caused, one recovered and one pick. He BPs 320, SQs 450 and has a VJ of 32.

"I move well sideline-to-sideline and have great field vision. I play hard-nosed football. I want to get better at keeping my feet under me and work on getting blocks off me quicker."
