Thursday Football Practice Report

Today the Seminoles practiced for 23 periods and they held a half scrimmage. Josh Newberg of The Territory gives us his observations from the today's practice.

The highlight for the Seminole offense was walk on wide receiver Robert Halback, who has been tearing things up lately. Quarterback Wyatt Sexton completed a 40-yard fade pass to the former Plant City high school player for a touchdown. On the very next series Chris Rix hit him over the middle for a 7-yard pass. A pair of linebackers leveled him but he still was able to hand onto the ball.

The tight ends continued to impress and today it was Matt Henshaw's turn to shine while hauling in several passes. Head Coach Bobby Bowden is feeling a lot more confident about the tight ends and expect them to play a bigger role next season in the Seminole offense.

Running back Lorenzo Booker sat out today to rest. The coaching staff doesn't want to risk an injury to the only scholarship back in spring drills.

Wyatt Sexton ran in a 15-yard touchdown.

On defense the linebackers continue to leave their mark with several hard hits in the scrimmage. A.J. Nicholson leveled a ball carrier out of bounds on one play and Ernie Sims had some good licks also.

Safety Jerome Cater intercepted walk on quarterback Tommy Keane and returned the ball 60 yards before being caught on the 10-yard line.

Broderick Bunkley went down with a lower leg injury (looked to be an ankle) and he limped off the field. According to Coach Bowden the injury doesn't look to be serious.
