Noles Offer Another DE?

With starting defensive ends Chauncey Davis and Eric Moore set to graduate at the end of the season and the fact the Noles didn't sign a defensive end prospect this past year, makes signing two to three defensive ends this year for the Seminoles a huge priority. The Noles have already offered Rancho Cucamonga (CA) Averell Spicer and it looks like New Orleans (LA) St. Augustine Alfred Jones should have his Federal Express package delivered from Tallahassee soon.

"I talked to Florida State and they said an offer is on the way,'" Jones said. "I suppose to call and talk to one of the Florida State coaches on the phone today with my coach."

"Where do the Noles stand on his early list of favorites?

"My top five right now are UCLA, Miami, Florida State, Oklahoma State and West Virginia," he said. "UCLA and Miami are my top two teams now. Coach Bieniemy from UCLA called me the other day and Miami puts a lot of defensive ends in the NFL."

Jones, who is being considered as one of the top 100 best players in America, has high praise from one of the countries top high school quarterbacks in Reserve (LA) East St. John's Ryan Perrilloux.

"St. Augustine has one the toughest defenses around," Perrilloux said. "They held us to 13 points last year. Al is a "Monster" on the field and he plays with so much emotion. He's one of the top defensive players around."

As a junior, he recorded 89 tackles and 11 sacks.

Jones, who has offers from all of his favorites, is also an excellent student in the classroom. He's on track to qualify academically.

He is considering attending some team football camps but hasn't made any plans yet.
