Florida State, ranked No. 13 in this week's Collegiate Baseball poll, defeated Jacksonville Wednesday 15-4 to improve to 24-9 on the year. FSU hosts No. 5 Miami this weekend before heading to Coral Gables next weekend to complete the six-game series.

#13 Florida State (24-9, 6-3 ACC) Florida State, ranked No. 13 in this week's Collegiate Baseball poll, defeated Jacksonville Wednesday by a score of 15-4 to improve to 24-9 on the year. FSU hosts No. 5 Miami this weekend before heading to Coral Gables next weekend to complete the six-game series.

With UM joining the ACC next season, 2004 marks the last of the annual six-game rivalry. Miami native and Golden Spikes candidate Eddy Martinez-Esteve leads the Seminoles in batting average (.422), home runs (10), doubles (11) and RBI (41). The sophomore right fielder has hit safely in 12 straight games. During the streak, Martinez-Esteve is hitting . 566 (30-for-53) with five homers and 22 RBI. The Seminoles enter the UM series with a .304 batting average and a 3.59 team ERA.

Miami took two of three at Georgia Tech last weekend to improve to 24-6 on the season. RF Brian Barton leads the Hurricanes with a .413 batting average while 1B Jim Burt is the team's top home run producer with seven. UM is hitting .326 as a team with a staff ERA of 3.83.

The Friday and Sunday FSU-UM games will be televised live by Sunshine Network. Friday's game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start while Sunday's first pitch is set for 1:00 p.m. Gene Deckerhoff and Tom Block are slated to call the action. All three games will be carried live on WFLA-1270 AM in Tallahassee. The Friday and Saturday night games can also be heard on 93.3 FM.
