Pickett, who earned All-America Honorable Mention honors and led the Seminoles to the second round of the NIT, earned a team-high five awards at the Seminoles' annual men's basketball banquet at the University Center Club.
Pickett earned awards for the most improved student-athlete, along with the best offensive and defensive player awards in addition to his senior and letterman certificates at the event attended by nearly 700 men's basketball fans.
Pickett averaged 16.5 points, 2.5 steals and made 110 3-point shots this season as he became the first Seminole to earn All-America Honorable Mention honors since Bob Sura in 1995. Pickett also became only the second player in school history to earn All-ACC First Team Honors this season. Sura had previously earned the honor as a junior in 1994.
Johnson was lauded with the awards for best 3-point field goal shooting percentage (.420), the Otto Petty Most Assists Award (125 assists/3.8 apg), the unsung hero award along with his senior and letterman certificates. Johnson (Kansas City, Mo.,) led the ACC in assist:turnover ratio (3.2:1) and ranked sixth in the league in assists. Waleskowski (Dayton, Ohio) was presented with the Dave Cowens Chairman of the Boards Award (178 rebounds/5.4 apg), the Sixth Man Award and the Most Improved Player Award. Waleskowski led the Seminoles in rebounding despite starting only three games this season.
Freshman Alexander Johnson (Albany, Ga.) earned two awards – the First Year Academic Award and the Best Field Goal Shooting Percentage Award. Johnson earned a 2.938 grade point average during his first semester at Florida State and shot a team-leading .551 from the field this season. Graduating senior Orenn Fells (Jacksonville, Fla.) was presented with two awards during the event – the Outstanding Student Athlete Award and his senior plaque. Fells, who will graduate May 2 with a degree in sport management, earned Dean's List Honors during the fall with a 3.57 GPA.
Sophomore Andrew Wilson (Kennesaw, Ga.), who missed the majority of the last two seasons and returned to play in 32 games during the season, was presented with the Mr. Hustle Award while junior Anthony Richardson (Raleigh, N.C.) earned the award as the team's top free throw shooter. Seniors Michael Joiner (Fayetteville, N.C.) and Mike Mathews (Blountstown, Fla.) earned their senior plaque and lettermen's certificate.
