Noles Offer Pensacola LB

Pensacola (Fla.) Washington's Jon Demps will be considered one of the top linebackers in the Sunshine State for the class of 2005. The 6-foot-4 and 223 pound panhandle standout is starting to pick offers from some of his favorite and he has a plan for making an early decision.

"LSU, Miami and Florida State and some other schools that I can't remember have verbally offered me," Demps said. "My high school coach has been talking with one of the Florida coaches and it sounds like they are close to offering as well."

Demps, like a lot of prep prospects, doesn't want the recruiting process to distract his focus on his season. He will most likely make a decision sometime during the summer or early fall.

"I would like to visit Miami, Florida State, Florida and LSU before making a decision," he said. "I'm looking for a school that has a family feeling. Location and a good education will be factors also."

What schools have the upper hand?

"Right now Miami and LSU are my early favorites," he said. "Florida State is most definitely right behind them."

This summer Demps plans on attending the LSU team football camp with one of his high school teammates.

As a junior, he recorded 145 tackles and five sacks.

Demps is an excellent student who is on track to qualify academically with a 2.85 grade point average.
