Noles Offer Pahokee RB

Pahokee (Fla.) running back Antone Smith will be considered one of the top players at his position in the country. The 5-foot-9 and 185 pound standout with blazing 4.25 40-yard dash speed is racking up the offers, including ones from the big-three in Florida.

"He has written offers from Miami, Rutgers, Iowa, Wisconsin and North Carolina," Pahokee Head Coach Leroy Foster said. "He also has verbal offers from Florida, Florida State, Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State and Penn State and several other teams."

According to Coach Foster, the teams that have the best shot of landing his star player are Florida, Florida State, Miami, North Carolina State and Michigan.

"Florida wants him to come up there real bad," Foster said. "They said they'll only take one running back. Miami said they are only going to take one guy and he's the one they want. Coach Lilly of Florida State calls up here all the time. He told me that Antone is one of the two backs that they are recruiting and like. The other guy they like is from Jacksonville (MauriceWells)."

Smith was injured most of his junior season but he was still able to rush for close to a 1,000 yards. As a sophomore he rushed for over 1,500 yards.

What type of running back is Smith?

"He reminds me of Clinton Portis," Coach Foster said. "He'll run around you or he'll run through you if there aren't any holes."

Smith will attend the MSL/The combine this weekend in Miami. He might also attend summer football camps at Miami and North Carolina State.

Smith is a solid student who is on track to qualify academically with a 2.8 grade point average and a 17 on the ACT test.
