Noles Offer GA ATH

The Seminole coaching staff is always looking for bluechip athletes and it looks like Coach Jody Allen found one that likes enough to offer from the Peach Tree State. What are the Noles chances of landing this special football player?

According to Columbus (GA) Pecelli Head Coach Kevin Pettis, 6-foot-2 and 220 pound running back/safety Matt Dunham is racking up the scholarship offers, including one from Florida State.

"He's got offers from Florida, Florida State, Maryland, Auburn and Georgia Tech," Pettis said. "Florida State Coach Jody Allen called down today (last Friday) and offered."

Dunham is The No 1 rated running back in the state of Georgia. However, he such a good athlete that he could end up at several other positions at the next level, including, defensive end, linebacker and safety.

As a junior, Dunham rushed the ball 121 times for 1,620 yards, which is a 13.3 yards per carry average, and he scored 28 touchdowns. He also caught four passes for 87 yards and returned two punts for touchdowns and those are just his offensive statistics. On the defensive side of the ball, he recorded 111 tackles and six interceptions.

Coach Pettis would like to see his star athlete make a decision before the season starts. What are the Noles chances?

"I'm pushing them for an early commitment," Pettis said. "He's camping down at Florida State this summer and if he likes it, he'll likely commit. They are his No. 1 choice."

Dunham is close to qualifying academically with a 2.6 grade point average. He needs a slight increase in his test score.
