Lincoln High receiver <b>Fred Rouse</b> is certainly attracting his share of national attention. Spring football continues in the Sunshine State and the Trojans -- one of the state's most successful programs -- look to improve over the next two weeks in preparation for the upcoming jamboree. Last Friday, however, Rouse and three others made plenty of noise at the Class 4A State Track and Field Meet in Gainesville.

There's no denying the talent of Fred Rouse.

Considered one of the nation's top athletes, Rouse, from Tallahassee Lincoln High School, has been offered by nearly every major program, including nearby Florida State.

Rouse had 41 receptions for more than 650 yards and nine touchdowns despite heavy attention. He also averaged more than 21 yards per punt return.

Last Friday, however, Rouse and three others made plenty of noise at the Class 4A State Track and Field Meet in Gainesville.

The 4 X 100 relay team of Rouse, Antwuan Moore, who ran the anchor leg, Kelvin Brown and Armante Marshall won in a season-best 41.04 seconds, which ranks fourth nationally.

Gainesville, which was faster in the preliminaries, took second in 41.24.
