Noles Offer Texas RB

Over ten years ago, Florida State recruited a small running back from Louisiana in Warrick Dunn who is considered by many to be the top runner to ever come through the Seminole program. This year the Noles coaching staff has offered a back that is a lot like the current Atlanta Falcons standout.

Russell Ball, a 5-foot-8 and 165 running back with 4.32 40-yard dash speed, has been burning up the competition in the state of Texas. As a junior the La Marque (TX) native led his team to a state title by rushing for 1,296 yards and 15 touchdowns. What does he bring to the table?

"I'm would compare myself to Fred Russell and Warrick Dunn," Ball said. "I have speed, balance and vision."

Ball indeed has speed. He has been timed in the 100 meter in 10.7 seconds. He also has tremdous strength for his size with a 450 pound squat.

In addition to Florida State, he has offers from Oklahoma State, Texas A&M and Northwestern. His favorite schools are Florida State, TCU, LSU, Miami and Northwestern.

"I like Florida State a whole lot," he said. "They aren't afraid to play smaller backs like myself. I plan on camping there over the summer."
