Noles Are Moving Up The List Of Pahokee RB

Pahokee (Fla.) is the home of the No. 6 best player on The Insiders.com 2005 Hot South 100 list. The Noles are in very heavy pursuit of this special talent but they will have to battle longtime rival Miami for his services.

"My favorites teams now are Miami, Florida State, Georgia, North Carolina State and Florida," running back Antone Smith said. "Miami has the upper hand right now. I like everything about them. They are winning and put a lot of players into the NFL. I've friends with Devin Hester, Terrell Walden and Jon Beason. Miami is like a big family."

This summer the 5-foot-8 and 185 pound standout with 4.3 40-yard dash speed will unofficially visit North Carolina State, Miami, Florida State, Michigan, and Georgia."

"I want to check out the atmosphere of the schools," he said. "I want to see what kind of people I would possibly be around. When I go up to Florida State I'm going to stay with my God-Brother Eric Moore. I like a lot of things about Florida State like Miami."

Smith has been offered by almost every program in the country. His performance on Thursday night at his jamboree against Boca Raton Spanish River backs up his hype.

"He rushed for 130 yards on only 11 carries and four touchdowns," Pahokee Head Coach Leroy Foster said. "On one play he outran a defensive back for an 87-yard touchdown and on ather he dipped his shoulder and split two defensive players for a score."

Several college scout were on hand for the game, including North Carolina State (Chuck Amato), Florida State, Florida, Minnesota, Pittsburgh, Central Florida and Georgia.

Surprising, his front-runner Miami wasn't there.

"Coach Cristobal called me and said he sorry that he couldn't be there," Foster said. "He was in Houston and he thought the game was the next night."

Smith, who is on track to qualify academically, won't make a decision until signing day in February.
