'Scat' Back Commits

Florida State landed its third commitment of the spring about a week ago. His skills a tailback may look familiar to FSU fans.

Russell Ball of LaMarque (Tx.) couldn't pass up the chance. The shifty tailback committed to FSU, getting the decision out of the way before summer camps and his senior season.

"I couldn't pass up the opportunity," he said. "Around here, chances like that don't come around very often.

Ball hinted that FSU's past history with smaller, quicker talent in its backfield swayed him a bit. See: Willie Reid, Travis Minor, Jeff Chaney. Some have even drawn a comparison is Warrick Dunn.

"Oh, man. He had some skills," Ball said. "I think he was a little bigger than me, too."

Regardless of any comparisions, Ball's talent speaks for itself. He runs a 4.32 and can squad an amazing 450 pounds, given he weights in a 165. Ball also returns kickoffs and punts.

Ball confirmed that he is committed and has been since last week.
