The Territory caught up with Daytona Mainland's Avery Atkins after his team dropped a 33-21 jamboree game to Madison County. Among other things, Atkins dismissed the notion that he was an LSU lean, saying he's still open at this point.

"I was misquoted in another report," he said. "I'm still looking around and I'm open. Obviously, I'm paying more attention to schools that are looking at me harder."

Atkins didn't suit out against the Cowboys. He blamed a sore ankle. There have also been rumors of academic issues. But accoring to Atkins, his core GPA is around a 3.0 right now.

Atkins said he will camp at LSU and Michigan over the summer. He will also stay with uncle Tony Sheals (FSU assistant basketball coach) for a few weeks and attend both FSU camp sessions.

Coaches from Tennessee, Indiana and LSU were on hand at Boot Hill Stadium to take in the action.
