Get Ready For Super Mario
Mario Henderson and about 50 teammates completed a short - albeit brutal - session Thursday afternoon before breaking for the weekend. The strength and conditioning staff led the Seminoles through 24 55-yard sprints. Without any rains during the day, the temperature was around 95 in Tallahassee today.
"Today was tough," Henderson said. "But I'm alright. I've been working hard and dropping a little weight helps."
Henderson was impressive in agility training both Monday and Wednesday. The sophomore, who will back up All-American Alex Barron, said both his program and a favorite pastime help him with his footwork and body control.
"I've been playing a lot of basketball," he said. "Just about every day before we started coming out here, I would go up to the Leach Center and run a few games every night. It helps me when I get out here doing this stuff."
Also helping Henderson is a wealth of experience on the gridiron, something not many true sophomores can boast. With all the injuries on the OL last season, Henderson was rotated in and even found his way into the starting lineup in the Orange Bowl after Barron missed a few practices.
"Yeah it helps. I know what to expect when I go out there and what I'm up against. I have to prepare for that."
