DL Wants An FSU Offer

In two weeks defensive lineman Aaron Lewis of Albuquerque (NM) La Cueva will fly across the country in order to attend Florida State's football camp hoping to get an offer from one of his favorite teams. The 6-foot-4 and 260 pound standout has also attended the University of Texas football camp along with an unofficial visit to Georgia Tech's campus.

"I'm going to attend Florida State's camp on July 7th," he said. "I'm hoping to persuade them to give me a scholarship offer. If Florida State does, then they would be one of my top choices."

The Seminoles have been rumored to be his favorite team all along and he's just waiting on an offer before he pulls the trigger. How close is he to actually making a decision?

"I want to make all of my official visits before I make a decision," he said. "I what to be able to meet with the coaches one on one and to see more of each school's campus. I'm probably taking my visits in July or August. I would like to watch a practice."

Recently, Lewis attended the Longhorns football camp and he came away with an offer.

"It went real well," he said. "They offered me a full-ride. The facilities there are great, the coaches are real nice and the players seem to be real happy."

Last Thursday he was in Atlanta on unofficial visit to Georgia Tech. How did that go?

"It was real nice," he said. "They have great facilities and a good business school."

He bench presses 310, squats 435 and power cleans 295.

Lewis, who is an excellent student, should have no problems qualifying academically.

He earned a spot on the all- first state team as a junior by recording 89 tackles, 25 1/2 sacks (state record), five passes broken up, two blocked punts, one blocked field goal, and two fumble recoveries.
