Noles Offer Four-Star DE

Yesterday, Florida State was the latest team to offer The No. 6 defensive end in the country. The four-star standout also has offers from both Florida and Miami.

"Yesterday, Florida State called my coach to offer me," Melvin Alaeze of Randallstown (MD)said. "Coach Allen said that they were really interested after watching my tape. He said that I passed the test."

Almost every program on the east coast has offered the talented Maryland pass-rusher. Where do the Noles stand with the rest?

"Florida State is up there," he said. "I don't have a list of schools yet but it felt good to get the Florida State offer because I liked watching them growing up. I also have been offered by Miami and Florida. I like all three schools."

One reason why the four-star standout has a liking for the Sunshine State is that he has relatives that live there.

"I have relatives that live in Orlando and Cocoa Beach," he said. "We probably visit them once a year."

Alaeze is unique because of his size and speed combination. He told the that he's currently up to 6-foot-3 and 285 pounds with a 4.6 40-yard dash time.

"I think what makes me different is my size and speed," he said. "That combination definitely gives me an advantage."

As a junior, Alaeze compiled a total of 50 tackles and 15 sacks on his way to earning first team all-division, first team all-metro, first team all-county and second team all-state honors.

Alaeze isn't sure where he will visit yet but he made it clear that he plans on taking all of his official visits and several unofficial visits.

What will he be looking for in a school?

"I'll check out all the depth charts," he said. "I'll see how many young ends are on a roster, how many players are being recruited for my position and looking at how many ends have already committed there."
