Wilson (NC) Beddingfield is the home of the Insiders.com No. 13 ranked defensive end in the country. Last week he had an impressive showing on the field. The Terriotry.org caught up with him to discuss his outstanding performance and to talk a little recruiting.
"We defeated North Lenoir 21 to 7," defensive end/tight
end Everette Brown said. "They ran
a wing-t offense and got behind. Since
they got behind, I got a chance to rush the quarterback.
I picked up two sacks and a forced fumble.
I also got eight tackles.
The 6-foot-4 and 238 pound standout also excelled on the
offensive side of the ball.
"I caught two passes for 50-yards," he said.
"I caught a screen pass for 13-yards and a post corner.
However, I would prefer to play defense in college."
Brown has unofficially narrowed his list down to a few
schools. The ones he likes most are
State, Virginia Tech,
"I like the
schools because they are close to home," he said.
is only and hour and half away and State is an hour.
Both schools have great college campuses.
From a football standpoint,
has to make progress. If they
don't win this year coach Bunting probably will be fired.
State is on top football wise now. The
schools are rich in tradition. They
are top-notch football programs. That's
why I want to get on their campuses to get a feel."
On September 6th Brown is going to take in his
first Miami/Florida State battle.
"I'm going to
unofficially for that game," he said. "The
last few years, that game was settled by a field goal.
I'm going to go with the team that's ahead."
There have been some whispers that distance from home was
an important factor with the Brown family. Has
"I've talked this over with my parents and they said
they wouldn't have a problem as long as I didn't go too far," he said.
"They would be all right with the
schools, what are his thoughts on
has been recruiting me real hard," he said.
Coach Lilly and Haggins have been writing me quite regularly.
hasn't been recruiting me that hard so far."
It looks like some lucky school will be getting a
present this December.
"I will probably decide around Christmas time," Brown
said. "It will be a Christmas
present for me."
