Scrimmage Notes

TALLAHASSEE – Sharing time in the Florida State backfield won't be problem for Leon Washington and Lorenzo Booker this season. That's because both talented runners will be asked to produce in facets other than the ground game.

"I've always been a big fan of getting my hands ready," Booker said. "I've been working on my routes, but the only thing I can control is working on my hands so that when they throw the ball to me I'll catch it. You throw it to me it's going to get caught."

No matter who is shouldering the load running the ball for FSU, count on both Booker and Washington to find some way to contribute.

Coaches held a controlled scrimmage pitting the first and second stringers against the scout teams. There was no hitting – ballcarriers were ruled down by contact.

Chris Rix found receiver Chris Davis for a 70-yard touchdown on streak route to open the scoring.
Bryant McFadden returned an interception for a touchdown.

Booker scored from 25 yards out. He took a handoff right tackle, cut up the middle and put a move on the last two defenders before reversing field for the touchdown. It was a thing of beauty.

Wyatt Sexton found Dominic Robinson for a 30-yard scoring strike on play action. Sexton made a nice touch pass while rolling right.

Beitia was good on tries from 47 and 22.

Willie Reid returned a punt 44 yards.

The scout team didn't have many highlights. They did impress when Xavier Lee connected with De'Cody Fagg for a 41-yard gain on a play that started from their own one yard line. Drew Weatherford was the first QB off the bench today with Lee backing him up.

Chris Rix was wearing a clear face mask for the first time in awhile.

Gary Cismesia was handling the kickoff chores.
