South Florida DB Will Be At The OB

The annual Miami/Florida State showdown is one week away and most recruits have their eyes on that game. Several of them will be at the game, including on of the most underrated defensive backs in the state.

Defensive backs like Avery Atkins and Bryan Evans have a much higher ranking than Miami Edison cornerback Chris Chancellor but that means very little to college scouts.   Big-time programs like Florida State , North Carolina State and Nebraska have offered the 5-foot-9 and 165 pound three-star cover-corner.

Last spring Chancellor proved his worth by picking off three passes in a jamboree.  Last week he picked up where he left off in spring by intercepting a pass in a jamboree against defending Class 6A State Champions Miami Carol City.

"In two quarters against Carol City , I also recorded five tackles," Chancellor said.  "Last year I intercepted five passes but this year I don't expect the ball to be thrown to my side of the ball much."

What's the secret to his success?

"I'm a ball-hog," he said.  "I expect to intercept every ball in the air."

This upcoming weekend, Chancellor will make an official visit with Rutgers when they square off against Michigan State .  On his return to South Florida , he will also take in the Miami/Florida State game on September 6th.  He grew up a die-hard Seminole fan.  Will he be cheering for the Garnet & Gold?

"I'm going to be neutral for that game," he said.  "It's hard to say but I think the Seminoles pull this one out.  It's going to be a good game."

The South Florida standout is open among Miami , Rutgers , Florida State, North Carolina State , Oklahoma and Iowa .

"I don't expect to make a decision until signing day," he said.
