With mandatory evacuations already in order in Dade, Palm Beach and Broward counties, University of Miami officials reportedly have finalized the decision to postpone Monday's season opener against Florida State in lue of Hurricane Frances' approach.
The game has been moved to Friday, Sept. 10 at 8 p.m. and will be played at the Orange Bowl, ABC has the NFL opener on Thursday and a full slate of college games the following Saturday that conflicted with those two dates. Friday night's contest will still be National broadcasted across the country.
Frances is currently a Category 4 on the Saffir-Simpson scale. Hurricane warnings stretch from Florida City north to Flagler Beach. Over 1.5 million have been ordered to evacuate. I-95 is limited to northbound traffic only; Florida's Turnpike has lifted tolls.
