Feeling Better

Florida State freshman linebacker Rodney Gallon continues to make improvements after recently suffering a left knee sprain. Gallon was enjoying a productive preseason prior to being injured, working with the second team. Gallon, however, is in good spirits and hopes to soon return to practice. He also may get out to Cox Stadium tonight to watch his alma mater, Lincoln High, open its season against Pensacola.

Florida State freshman linebacker Rodney Gallon is looking to soon return to practice.

Gallon suffered a left knee sprain during a scrimmage a week ago Monday.

"I am feeling a lot better than I did and I am getting back to where I was," Gallon said. "I have been going to rehab, running around (conditioning).

"I was hoping to come back this week, but the trainers told me to hold off. I may get back (by Saturday) but probably next week."

Gallon, a former standout from Lincoln High School, had made a favorable impression this preseason.

With injuries to starter A.J. Nicholson and backup Marcello Church at weakside linebacker, the athletic Gallon was working with the second team along with juco transfer Barry Wright.

Gallon also was listed second team on kickoff coverage. His injury was somewhat of a fluke.

"I was on kick coverage, I was back peddling and something didn't feel right," Gallon said.

Following practice tonight, Gallon is hoping to be able to watch his Lincoln Trojans open their season at home against Pensacola.
