What's the Latest with Dunbar?

Last February Florida State signed two of the top defensive tackle prospects in the state in Aaron Jones and Emmanuel Dunbar. However, Dunbar never enrolled in school due to not qualifying academically. What's the latest on the Deerfield Beach (Fla.) standout?

"I'm lifting weights once a day and running twice of day," Dunbar said. "I never lifted weights much before and my bench press is now up to 315 pounds."

What about off the field? What is he doing to get academically qualified for college?

"My sister is a teacher and everyday after school she works with me," he said. "We do practice test on the internet each week. I can see the improvement. The last time I took the ACT I got a 67. I need a 68 to qualify."

Dunbar is set to take the ACT on September 25th. However, he also has plans to take it again in October and December if he doesn't get the necessary score.

Last Friday, Dunbar watched the Noles play the Canes on TV but he couldn't attend in person.

"It's going to be very hard to watch," he said. "I want to be out there so badly."

Dunbar continues to be solid with the Noles and he keeps in contact with Seminole recruiting coordinator John Lilly.

"Coach Lilly and I talk a couple of times a week," he said. "Sometimes he calls and sometimes I call him. Coach said to keep the studying up."

As a senior, he was selected to the first-team all-state team in class 6A competition by recording 112 tackles and 17 sacks.

With Travis Johnson and Charles Howard set to graduate at the end of the season, having the Broward county stand qualify will be a welcome sight for Seminole fans and coaches.
