Noles Move In On LSU Commitment

The No. 5 rated safety in the country gave an early verbal commitment to the LSU Tigers. However, he's now open and looking around. One team popping up on his radar with a recent offer is the Florida State Seminoles.

"Florida State verbally offered me," safety Clarence Ward of La Marque (TX) said.  "They call every week and I haven't heard from LSU in a while."

Ward still has the Tigers on top but tow new teams are nipping on their heels.

"My top three is Florida State, LSU and UCLA," he said.  "If Florida State sends me tickets, I'll go there on an official visit.  I was supposed to go with my teammate Russell Ball (FSU commitment) this week for the Florida State/Clemson game but I'm probably not going to go now."

Ward is off to a good senior start by averaging 10 tackles a game for 3-1 team.   Last year he helped lead his team to a state championship (16-0) as a junior by recording 93 tackles, 5=five interceptions and three fumble recoveries (3 defensive touchdowns) as a junior.

The Texas high school standout models his game after Dallas Cowboy safety Roy Williams.

"I'm a real hard-hitter," he said.  "I give it all I got on the field."

Ward is an excellent student who is on track to qualify academically.
