Noles Offer Texas Corner

With starting cornerbacks Leroy Smith and Bryant McFadden set to graduate at the end of the season along with the fact that super Sophomore possible leaving a year early for the NFL, makes signing a couple of quality cover-corners in the class of 2005 a need. Recently the Seminoles have targeted another defensive back with an offer.



"When Florida State started to call at the beginning of month, they offered," Korey Mangum of La Marque (TX) said.  "Florida State has been calling.  They talk about Florida State and how things are going with me."


 Mangum gave Texas A&M an early commitment and but the 5-foot-11 and 180 pound three-star standout is looking around. 


"I'm thinking about visiting TCU, Florida State and Oklahoma," he said.  "All of them have offered except Oklahoma.  I'm not sure when I'll visit though."


The Texas standout has ties to the Aggies with his brother Kevin Mangum being a senior safety for A&M.  However, the Noles have a tie also.


"My cousin (Russell Ball) is committed to Florida State and he's trying to get me to come along," he said.


Ball and Mangum were scheduled to officially visit Florida State last weekend but cancelled due to weather.


Both players along with their teammate Clarence Ward will visit the Seminoles later in the year.


Mangum finished last season with 76 tackles, six picks, two fumbles caused and two fumble recoveries. Mangum can bench 285 pounds, squats 445 and he has a 34-inch vertical jump.


So far this season he has one interception and his team is off to a 3-1 start.
