Noles Making a Push for Jax Ath

Florida State is making a push for one of the top athletes in the Jacksonville area. This past weekend the 6-foot-1 and 170 pound Wolfson high school senior made his second unofficial visit to Tallahassee.

"The trip was very good," wide receiver Rod Owens said. "The atmosphere really stood out. I'll be coming back for an unofficial trip when Florida State plays Florida."

Did his experience at Doak Campbell stadium move the Noles to the front of the pack?

"Maryland and Florida State are my top teams now," he said. "Maryland has a good passing offense and it would probably be my best chance of early playing time. I like Florida State for all the same reasons. What gives Florida State an advantage is that it's closer to home. My parents want to see me play."

Owens' family grew up Gator fans but that could change.

"They liked the visits," he said. "It's starting to grow on them."

Right now Owens has an official visit set to Maryland on (12/10) and he will set up to Florida State soon.

Last week, the First Coast standout helped lead his team to victory by catching four passes for 143 yards and two touchdowns. He also leads the city with five interceptions.
