Five-Star DE Visits FSU

Last Saturday evening No.1 rated defensive end flew across the country to take his official visit to Florida State. How did it go?

"It was what I expected," Averell Spicer of Rancho Cucamonga (CA) said. "The whole program is great. It was probably my best official visit yet. I would rate it a nine.

Spicer met the entire coaching staff and got to hang out with two Californian's in Travis Johnson and Dominic Robinson.

The five-star prospect will also officially visit Southern Cal on (1/7) and Oregon State. He has also officially visited Nebraska and Oklahoma.

"It will probably come down to either USC or Florida State," he said. "I'll select a school where I feel the most comfortable. Distance won't be a factor with my family. A decision will probably come in January."

As a senior, Spicer recorded 71 tackles and six sacks.

"Most schools ran away from me," he said.

Spicer will play in the Florida/California All-Star game on January 15th in the Orange Bowl.

He was nominated for the Army All-American game but wasn't selected to participate.
