FSU Coach Visits Cartersville Standout

Florida State is starting to recruit one of the top athletes in the state of Georgia. On Monday a Seminole coach spent the day at Cartersville (GA) to get to know the 6-3 and 215 pound standout.

"Coach Allen of Florida State was at my school yesterday," wide receiver/defensive back Anthony Barnes said. "We had a good conversation and he told me that he liked my style of play. I think Florida State will offer soon."

Barnes, who is being recruited by the Noles as an athlete, will officially visit Florida State in January. He will also visit Georgia Tech and Mississippi State.

What does he like about those three programs?

"Georgia Tech is close to home," he said. "I like the coaches at Mississippi State and Florida State is a great school period. Plus, they are located in Florida I'm looking for a school that has a good atmosphere and a place that feels like home."

What will the lucky school that signs Barnes be getting?

"First, they will be getting a great person," Barnes said. "I feel like I make good decisions in life. Second, they will get a good athlete. I'm a play-maker."

Cartersville's head football coach agrees with his star player.

"He's a good enough athlete that he could play on either side of the ball in college," Coach Barden said. "He's not your typical wide receiver. He's a physical player that likes to hit. He's awfully fast with legit 4.5 40 speed."

Barnes helped lead his team to the state semi-finals by accumulating over 800 yards receiving.

He is an excellent student who is on track to qualify academically.
